Notarial fees

Notary fees are regulated nationwide by the German Court and Notary Fees Act (GNotKG) and are
therefore the same for every notary in Germany. Fee agreements of any kind are not permitted. The
notary must charge and collect the fees, which is also regularly checked by the President of the Regional Court.

The amount of the respective fee is generally determined by the value of the respective legal transaction, the so-called “Geschäftswert”.

This means that we fulfil many official duties without charging a fee that covers our costs. This is offset
by the fact that we get higher fees for other transactions. By linking the notary fees to the value of the
transaction and thus to the financial capacity of the parties, we ensure that notarial services can be
utilised regardless of income.

The notary fees are flat-rate fees and cover the entire notarial consultation, including the drafting of
the deeds, regardless of the difficulty, effort and number of meetings.
